Your Profile Page & Markdown

in: Getting Started
Your profile page is your personal community page where you’re free to express yourself (within reason) and let the community know who you are and what you’re about.

Using Markdown you can embed pictures, links to your social media websites, and even a donation button!
If you have a new account, there’s a good chance you don’t have a live profile page! Make sure that you have activated your Livestream Settings otherwise you’ll be taken to a 404 page when you try and access your community profile page!

You need to use Markdown’s syntax to edit your text, link to another page or add an image.

Basic Markdown Syntax

Text formatting

italic text
*Asterisks* or _Underscores_
bold text
**Asterisks** or __Underscores__
bold & italic text combined
**asterisks and _underscores_**

# H1
## H2
Alternatively, for H1 and H2, an underline-ish style:

Line Breaks

For a linebreak you can insert the <br /> break tag.
To create a blank line just insert a second <br />.

Inline (titles are optional):
![alt text](/path/to/img.jpg "Title")
![alt text][id]

[id]: /path/to/img.jpg "Title"
Both of the above examples produce the same output!

[inline-style link](

[inline-style link with title]( "Hitbox Homepage")

[You can use numbers for reference-style link definitions][1]
[1]: http://

or just leave it empty and use the [link text itself]
[link text itself]:

Image with Link

[![alt text](/path/to/yourimage.jpg "Title")](

Create a donate button

Go to PayPal, create an account or log into an existing one.

Upload a PayPal donation image, then link it to a donation link for your PayPal. In order to get a donation link, go to the “PayPal donation button site” and follow its instructions.

When you are done making it, select ‘e-mail’ instead of ‘web’ tab, which should give you a link instead of the HTML form.
You can also use websites like ImRaising, StreamTip, and TwitchAlerts for donation links.

Horizontal Rule

Three or more...

Hyphens (‐) = ---

Asterisks (*) = ***

Underscores (_) = ___

In the Markdown Extra syntax, a “simple” table looks like this:
| First Header | Second Header | Third Header |
| ------------- | ------------- | ------------- |
| Content Cell | Content Cell | Content Cell |
| Content Cell | Content Cell | Content Cell |

Colons can be used to align columns.
| First Header | Second Header | Third Header |
| ------------- |:-------------:| -------------:|
| left-aligned | centered | right-aligned |

Attention: You need to add a blank row under the markdown-table to display it correctly!
Note: Add a leading and tailing pipe to each line of the table. A table need at least one pipe (|) on each line for Markdown Extra to parse it correctly. This means that the only way to create a one-column table is to add a leading or a tailing pipe, or both of them, to each line.
